MiloMila dolls go colourful with Tilda Harvest

After the fun I had with sewing the Big Sky MiloMila dolls it was time for some color. I chose the Harvest line by Tilda. Again a full fat quarter bundle, with Tilda fabrics these bundles are usually 20 fat quarters. The Tilda fabrics are perfect because their fabric lines are very cohesive and the quality is outstanding. You will have a suitable print for all that little dolls need.

The dolls in the photo are not completely dressed and there was not all that much fabric left at this point. I was afraid that 20 FQ's would not be enough fabric because they of course have to be dressed in exactly the same fabrics that their bodies are made of. While making these I discovered that I’m just a tad obsessive about this 😬.

And so making 8 dressed dolls from 20 FQ's is a stretch. Well, it cannot be done. All dolls need a dress or overalls, a hat, a bandana and underpants from the quilt fabric. They also have a T-shirt but that is made with a knit fabric, boo hiss. There is a post about solving that problem here. In the end I had to patch pieces together to create the clothes and purchased some extra fabric.

Lesson learned: it takes 3 FQ’s of quilt fabric per doll. And that is only enough if you do not make a single mistake.

Cheers,
Christel ❤️
